The portrait Masters 2018

This year has had many first’s for me.  It has been an amazing year, and one of the most memorable and exciting times was meeting my biggest mentor and most amazing photographer and educator – Sue Bryce – I was lucky enough to spend 2 days with her and a group of amazing photographers from around the world.  This pushed me outside my comfort zone – especially photographing while Sue was watching!! – talk about feeling the pressure – but really I couldn’t have been put more at ease and feel in love with what i do even more.

Then the entries opened for The portrait Masters – which is a world wide Awards and Accreditation program.  This year had the most amazing panel of International Judges!  So I decided to put my work out there and be judged!  The Portrait Masters Conference hosted by Sue Bryce which ran for 3 days in Phoenix, Arizona was were the winners were announced live.  I was sitting at home watching a live feed at my computer when the Newborn Category came on – and I couldn’t believe it when my image came up in the Top 10 images.  With 7000 entries in this competition I was so blown away. Unfortunately I must not have filled things in properly and Instead of Lisa Davidson Photography being announced and seen by thousands it just has my name as Lisa….. Lesson learnt (make sure you fill everything in well.  Anyway not only was I in the top 10 Newborn Photographers I received 1 silver and 8 Bronze awards.  So it pays to put yourself out there every now and again, get over the fear, and do it anyway – as this time it was so worth it.  Here are my images that I entered – each one winning an award.

16th February 2018Clyde Wedding – Camyce & TroyThe Packing Shed

Clyde Wedding - Camyce & Troy

Troy & Camyce came back to Central Otago to get married in February.  They chose to do a “First Look” at the Shaky Bridge in Alexandra – as this was where Troy had proposed and so was a special place for them both.  We then headed out for some photo’s where the weather wasn’t really being very kind.  The winds were so strong it wasn’t ideal .  Luckily by the time we arrived at The Packing shed for the ceremony the winds had calmed and everything went of smoothly.  Thanks for having me to share in your day.  Here is a little peek into Troy and Camyce’s wedding day…….wedding photography wedding photography wedding photography wedding photography wedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding flowerswedding dresswedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photography wedding photographywedding photography wedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photography wedding photography wedding photography wedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding carswedding photographywedding photographywedding photography wedding photography wedding photography wedding photography wedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photographywedding photography wedding photography wedding photography

Sam & Paige - Orchard Gardens Wedding

Paige and Sam – Wow what a wedding day.  These guys were so much fun.  We had so many laughs throughout the day – starting when the Best man couldn’t find his suit.  Well Im not sure that we started laughing at this – but we sure did have some laughs about it later and some funny photo’s with the trouser that he managed to borrow that weren’t quite the right fit!  Here’s a preview of Paige and Sam’s beautiful day in Alexandra/Clyde.boys,groom,groomsmengroomgroombride wedding detailswedding ceremonylandscape and wedding party photographybride and bridesmaids at central otago weddingwedding photographer central otagoT orchard gardens wedding orchard gardens weddingcentral otago wedding orchard gardensepic wedding central otago

Te Koha - Newborn Photo's

It was such a pleasure to have TeKoha and his beautiful family in for Newborn photo’s back in July.  Originally from Fiji, the family has now settled in Cromwell and welcomed little Te Koha into the family on the 10th of July.  Te Koha has two beautiful sisters – Grace and Faith.   Newborn Photos

Mandy & Ted’s Wedding Day

Mandy and Ted decided to get married in Moeraki as they spend a lot of time in Hamden at their  holiday home and just love the place.  This was 3rd time lucky for Mandy and Ted who had tried on several occasions to tie the knott but with one thing or the other getting in the way it hadn’t eventuated.  We arrived at Moeraki on the Thursday for the rehearsal to an almighty gale and freezing temperatures.  I was pleasantly surprised to wake the next morning to the sun shining and the birds chirping.  It was an early start as Ted and Mandy had decided to get their wedding party photos done before the ceremony.  We had a fun morning – spending time at the beach, and then onto Oamaru before getting back for the ceremony just along from the Moeraki Boulders Cafe.  We managed to get most of the way through the ceremony before getting a little sprinkling from above.  The reception was held at the Moeraki Boulders Cafe – which has the most beautiful outlook.  Thanks for sharing your special day with me Mandy and Ted, it was an absolute pleasure and I wish you a lifetime of happiness xx

Oscar Oughton’s Newborn Photoshoot

Little Oscar arrived in a speedy manor about 5 weeks early to everyone surprise.  He traveled all the way from Twizel for his big photoshoot with Mum Amy Eastwood and Dad Andrew Oughton.  He had a headful of beautiful dark hair and was just adorable.newborn photographyNewborn Photographynewborn photographyNewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photographynewborn photography

Little Oliver came to visit from Dunedin at 11 day’s New.  He was such a little cutie.  Mum – Claire and Dad – Hayden  were pretty smitten (and so they should be)  Oliver had given them a little cause for concern – but arrived safe and sound.  Here is a little selection of photos taken at Oliver’s photoshoot. Baby Nico

What a delightful little man Nico was.  My newborn photography sessions are usually done within the first 2 weeks.  This is not always possible and sometimes it is a last minute thing to get photos done.  Nico was 8 weeks old when he came to me, so I wasn’t sure if we would get to many “newborn” poses, as by 8 weeks they tend to not be quite so curled up, and are a lot more sensitive to touch.  But Nico was a superstar!  We got him nice and sleepy and the photos were beautiful.  He is such a cute baby!  Nice and chubby, with beautiful olive skin and the most amazing long, dark eyelashes.  He was a little big to fit into most of my props, but the simplistic photo’s are sometimes the best.  I even one a Bronze award at the NZIPP Iris awards with one of Nico’s photos.  Enjoy xx

Newborn Photography is such a passion for me.  I still get excited with each and every session.  I LOVE babies – just incase you couldn’t tell – But this was an extra special Newborn Photography session for me, as it was my cousin’s little girl.  Meet little Anika and her precious family – Manu, Koren and big brother Tane.  Thank’s for coming through from Dunedin for your photo shoot.  It was such a pleasure to photograph your beautiful little family xx Annika – fitting snuggly in Dad’s hands. xx

Iris Awards 2107Lisa Davidson Photography

Iris Awards 2107

Iris Awards

The annual Epson/NZIPP Iris Professional Photography Awards is New Zealand’s only professional photography competition. The aim of these print awards is to recognise and honour the best in contemporary photography from New Zealand and overseas professionals.

I find the Iris awards are a great way to push you outside your comfort zone and put you in front of other Professional Photographers to see how your doing.  This year was so busy leading up to Iris I actually didn’t get a chance to do anything special just for Iris – but at the last minute went through my recent work and submitted some photos that I loved.  I was pretty happy to come away with 3 Bronze awards.  Here are my winning images.  Thanks to all my clients that trust in me to document such special times in their lives. xx
