The Portrait Masters Awards and accreditation is an International competition that I have been entering since it started a couple of years back. I wasn’t planning on entering this year as I had been so busy with work and life in general that I hadn’t had the time to commit to this. Although right at the last minute and with a reminder that there was only 2 hours left to enter – it got the better of me and I searched the photos that i still had sitting on my computer and ended up entering 4 images. # in the newborn category and 1 in Boudoir. There were 11,051 entries from all around the world entered this round, and i was pleased to see all of my images were awarded Bronze. These are my winning entries below…….. Enjoy xx
What a Wedding!
The wedding of Larrisa &Te Kohe took place on Larissa’s parents property in Alexandra. It was such a stunning setting and the day was filled with so much love and emotion. I found myself so wrapped up in listening to the speeches and wedding vows, I had to remind myself that I was there to do a job and get taking Photos!! The vows were so heartfelt and emotional, even Larissa’s Mum spoke so emotionally and the words – just so beautiful and full of meaning. T.K’s son Phoenix was also a special part of the day, and his kind caring nature was so evident as he stroked Larissa and T.k’s back when they got emotional during the wedding vows. The bridal party was a pretty stunning lineup – the girls all looked amazing – their dresses all different and so beautiful and the boys kept me on the go and very entertained. We had so much fun. Thank you Larissa and T.K for trusting me with the job of photographing your wedding day. It was such a pleasure to meet you both and I wish you all the best with your future life together xx Hope you enjoy this little preview of your day – and I will get them all on their way to you soon!
Brad and Jeanette married at The Homestead and Woolshed on Racecourse in April this year. The day started of with a covering of fog but came out beautiful! It was an early start to the day as we did the photography with the wedding party before the wedding. We were pretty spoilt for choice with locations out in Omakau. Time seemed to slip away pretty quickly as we were having fun and getting some great photos – but got them back in time for the beautiful ceremony at the Homestead. Jeanette had done the most amazing job with all the decorations at the reception. I walked in and was blown away with how beautiful it was. So much time had been spent on beautiful details. Here is a look at their day xx
The annual Epson/NZIPP Iris Professional Photography Awards is New Zealand’s only professional photography competition. The aim of these print awards is to recognise and honour the best in contemporary photography from New Zealand and overseas professionals. Organised by the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography the awards showcase cutting-edge imagery and top, creative photographic talent. The Iris Professional Photography Awards are open to all New Zealand and international professional photographers. A ‘professional photographer’ is defined as a “person who earns an income in the professional photography industry”. I always find these awards quite nerve wracking as we are putting ourselves out there to be judged, and that is a hard thing to do. You can create a beautiful image that you love and in 2 minutes it can be ripped apart and you can be left feeling not good enough. On the up side it can also leave you feeling great if you do well. It is great to see where you sit in the industry, and it is great to push yourself just that little bit harder. This year I entered 3 images – 2 in the classic wedding category and 1 in the classic portrait. I was pretty happy to come away with 1 professional standard, 1 bronze and 1 silver award.
Maternity sessions are so much fun to capture. It is such a special time in someones life. I still remember expecting my first born ( 16 years ago now – but still just feels like yesterday) It is an amazing experience being pregnant – even with the unbearable morning sickness! Watching your body change and grow- and knowing that this little baby that you have created is growing inside and will soon change your life forever. I recently had Amber in for a maternity session. She looked amazing! I was so excited to get her back to show her the beautiful images we had created. This was a post that was so lovely to read after Ambers experience with me.
“I just had the most amazing experience with Lisa today ☺️ Lisa you made me feel so incredible comfortable, at ease and truly beautiful (especially when you feel the opposite when pregnant) your gorgeous dresses, beautiful props and studio, I loved every minute of it, can’t wait to see the images I am so looking forward to having our new born shoot with you too thank you so much Lisa ☺️”
I Just wanted to share with you all a beautiful testimonial I received from one of the lovely couples I photographed on their wedding day in Wanaka this year…..
“Lisa from the moment we met you your warm thoughtful and gentle nature was comforting, especially at a time when things can be so stressful and you just need to know that all the hard work and months of planning will be captured in those few hours that your photographer is with us. You did so much more and delivered in every way. No mountain too hard to climb and no chopper to hard to hang out of to capture the magic that you presented us with only weeks later. A very big heartfelt thank you especially during such a personal tragic moment in time for you and your family. You are a true professional and so many friends and family have commented on your beautiful photos. I would have to say the slideshow and choice of music you put together was an Amazing and unexpected but very welcome surprise. Thank you Lisa, Blair and I cant wait to see the album and highly recommend you in every way.
Peta and Blair Collie
It is so so wonderful to get beautiful messages like this. I have the most amazing job and am very blessed to meet the most wonderful people along the way. It was such a pleasure to meet you both Peta and Blair and I think of you often. xx
Blair and Peta’s beautiful Wanaka Wedding
From the moment I arrived at Blair’s parents home in Wanaka to meet and discuss Peta and Blair’s upcoming wedding, I was made to feel so totally welcome. Blair’s parents Fergus and Lynette had just completed building their beautiful new home in Wanaka, and it was such a special spot to celebrate such an amazing wedding.
I knew when I first meet Peta and Blair that this was going to be a beautiful wedding, surrounded by amazing family and friends. They were such a neat couple. Kind, respectful, caring – and with the coolest kids!!
The wedding took place down at the outlet in Wanaka with the groom and groomsmen arriving by jet boat, and the girls making an amazing entrance by helicopter. It was a stunning setting, and with it being the first visit to New Zealand for a lot of the guests – I think they were pretty blown away by our amazing country. After the ceremony we flew to the top of the mountain for some fun and photos with the wedding party.
Blair and Peta I wish you both a long life together filled with love, laughter and much happiness. I so enjoyed our time together. You both have such a kind caring nature, and I hope to catch up with you again when your back in NZ xx
